Children’s and Teens’ Courses (less info)

The New York Vipassana Association (NYVA) offers Children’s Courses for boys and girls ages 8 to 12, and Teen’s Courses for teens ages 13 to 17. One-day Children’s and Teen’s Courses are held at NYC Dhamma House, on the fifth Saturday of the month, about four times per year. In addition, at least one course per year is held in the New York Lower Hudson Valley, at a facility with outdoor space, or in northern New Jersey.

All participants learn Anapana meditation through guided instructions, for periods of up to 45 minutes. Throughout the day, participants engage in stories, discussions, snacks, games, arts and crafts, and other activities. It is not necessary for children or their parents to have meditation experience. All children and teens are welcome.

For more information and for application instructions, please visit the regional Children’s Course page. To enroll in courses, parents or guardians and children will need to complete the children’s course application form, along with permission and medical emergency forms.

Upcoming courses in the New York City area will be posted on the website. For more information on all local Children’s Courses, please email childrens-courses@www.ny.us.dhamma.org.

Old Students who wish to apply to serve will be required to complete a background check.
