COVID-19 Related Cancellations & Updates

During this Pandemic period, New York Vipassana Association in-person group activities have been modified, and a few remain suspended.

Courses: 10-day and 1-day courses have been scheduled. 3-day and Childrens courses are being planned. See the Course Schedule for details.  For all residential (overnight) courses, all participants must follow NYVA’s Residential COVID-19 Protocols which include vaccinations, mask use, and private transportation.

Sittings: Plans are underway to reopen the NYC Dhamma House to weekday evening group sittings in the coming month.  In the meantime, NYC Dhamma House is open for old students to sign up for time slots for individual meditation. Old students are required to follow the NYC Dhamma House COVID-19 Protocols for individual meditation and the NYC Dhamma House COVID-19 Protocols for AT-led Group Sittings and 1-Day Courses.

All NYVA-sponsored group sittings hosted at Old Students’ homes continue to be suspended. If you have completed a 10-day course in this tradition, you can access resources to support your practice.

We will continue to restart activities as soon as we can safely do so, relying on guidance from the CDC, state and local health officials, and prioritizing the safety and well-being of our servers and meditators.

New York area updates will be posted on ny.us.dhamma.org. We encourage you to visit the nearby center websites, dhara.dhamma.org (Massachusetts) and pubbananda.dhamma.org (Delaware), for updates on their courses and activities.

If you have any questions, please email us: info@ny.us.dhamma.org. If you are an Old Student and would like to serve on any of the committees planning courses and sittings, please email: dhamma-service@ny.us.dhamma.org.
