April 3 – 5  2020

The New York Vipassana Association (NYVA) is pleased to be able to support old students in their practice by continuing to offer regular two-day weekend courses. Starting at 7PM on Fridays and ending at 5PM on Sunday, these small courses have the distinct advantage of offering many old students in the region the opportunity to engage in serious, sustained meditation over the course of several days without conflicting with most people’s work schedules.

Accommodations & Facilities

These courses will take place at Wagon Road Camp, a rented facility in Westchester, NY, approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour by car or train from NYC.

Residential Building

The retreat center is situated on a quiet 53 acre camp site owned by Children’s Aid. The camp rents out to third party entities like ours during their off-season in order to offer children and handicapped individuals free summer camp experiences near NYC. Our courses will utilize two heated facilities:

  1. Each facility has one open dormitory that can fit up to 12 students and 4 servers as well as two showers and 4 toilets. Beds are single sized.
  2. One facility also has a spacious meditation hall, while the other has a small kitchen and dining room.

Students are expected to bring outdoor shoes, flashlights and their own bedding (including blankets).

Food

Simple vegetarian meals will be offered for breakfast and lunch. We will not be able to accommodate any special food preferences. Since this course is only open to old students, all students will be expected to abide by 8 precepts, including no meal after 12pm. Tea will be served at 5pm.
