At Nalanda University, Dr. Panth took the initiative to start the Revival of Ancient Buddhist Pilgrimage Sites in Magadha based on the account of the famous monk scholar and 7th century pilgrim Xuanzang who traveled from China to India and back again on foot over a period of 17 years.

About Dr. Panth

Dr. Panth holds an M.A. History, M.A. Buddhist Studies (Gold Medalist) University of Delhi, M.Phil. and Ph.D. He was the Director & Vice Chancellor of Nalanda University from 2000 to 2016. Prior to that he served as the Director of the Vipassana Research Institute for 14 years under the guidance of S.N. Goenka.
