Special Community Events Next Month

On the weekend of April 11th and 12th, our NYC Dhamma community will be gathering with our regional teachers to meditate together and talk about our plans for the coming year. All old students are welcome to attend!

Open Session (“Town Hall Meeting”) 

When: Saturday, April 11th, 9:00am-12:15pm

Where: McKinsey  & Company, 55 East 52nd Street – Park Ave Plaza, 21st Floor

What:

  • 9am-10am Group Sitting (optional)
  • 10:15am-12:15pm Open Session (“Town Hall Meeting”) with the NYC Dhamma House Trust, local ATs, and a regional teacher, oriented towards gathering input from the general community on the following subjects:
     -  What activities (geographically, nature of activities) should be part of the mandate of the NYC chapter?
     -  Based on the answer to the above, what sort of infrastructure (physical space,    financial, people) is needed?
    -  [Time permitting] Is the current Dhamma House adequately serving current and potentially future needs?
    -  How would we like to supplement (or upgrade, as the case might be) this resource  and over what period of time?

Please do not freely post this invitation on social media as it is open to old students who have sat a 10-day course in this tradition. The group sitting and the Open Session (“Town Hall Meeting”) are not linked: you can come for either one or both.

When: Sunday, April 12th, 12:00pm-6:00pm; all participants are asked to attend the full course

What: First Large NYC Annual 1-Day Course (English only), conducted by an area teacher.

The password to open the link to apply is the same as the old-student password. You will need to bring ID for access to the building, and please be on time as the course will start promptly at 12 noon. Please bring whatever cushions you need and make sure you eat lunch before the course starts: there will be no food break during the course. Please make sure that you can stay on the premises for the duration of the course.
